Industry is currently undergoing a profound paradigm shift towards Industry 4.0. The aim of this shift is to reduce production costs in order to increase profit margins, improve product quality and adjust production towards an efficient model based on demand and customer needs. This ambition to achieve an improvement in competitiveness generates new forms of business pressure and forces companies to adapt continuously if they do not want to lose their market share to other more technologically advanced companies towards a more connected and intelligent industry (Industry of the Future -IdF-), has resulted in a significant optimisation of industrial processes, to remain competitive, Hohner must meet the challenge of digitisation and traceability for the control of the manufacturing process of the encoders that thanks to the Ayuda a proyectos de I+D+i en el ámbito de la Industria Conectada 4.0. (Activa Financiación) programme the following objectives will be met:
- Develop a unitary product identification system from the start of the product’s manufacture:
- Implement a marking system with QR codes or other similar technology at the beginning of the manufacturing process to trace each product from the start.
- Establish a system for tracking products throughout the entire manufacturing process, from initial marking to final quality control, recording information at each stage.
- Capture and digitise data on critical parameters in the manufacture of encoders:
- Implement measurement technologies and devices to capture accurate data on critical parameters in the manufacturing process.
- Digitally record the values of these parameters during the manufacturing process, replacing some current manual methods that do not record the values.
- Interconnect all related data through a tool (software) to have all product information and establish correlations between parameters:
- Develop a software platform to interface all data related to encoder manufacturing, including records of critical parameters and other relevant data.
- Integrate the data captured in real time during the manufacturing process into a centralised database, which allows accessing and analysing the information of each product in a comprehensive way.
- Establish correlations between the different parameters recorded to identify relationships and patterns that can contribute to the improvement of quality and efficiency in the manufacture of encoders.
